The Calgary Stampede Returns July 6 to 15!

  • June 12, 2018

More than 1.2 million visitors flock to Calgary every year for the annual Calgary Stampede – also known as the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth! This 10 day festival returns in the summer 2018 from July 6th to 15th with everything from rodeos and country concerts to a carnival and more amazing food and entertainment. Don’t miss your chance to experience this unforgettable celebration of Western Canadian heritage!

Rodeo and evening shows:

The Calgary Stampede Rodeo is a world class event featuring the world’s best competitors. Six main rodeo events happen daily, including ladies barrel racing, bareback, tie-down roping, steer-wrestling, saddle bronc, and bull riding. In the evening, be sure to catch the GMC Rangeland Derby and Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show. You’ll see the best of chuckwagon racing, followed by an incredible stage show you won’t soon forget. Rodeo events start at 1:15 pm daily and evening shows start at 7:45 pm.

Music and entertainment:

The Calgary Stampede draws legendary headliners every year for their concert series. This year is no exception, with country icons Luke Bryan and Brad Paisley rocking the Virgin Mobile Concert Series stage, plus more artists still to be announced later this spring. Virgin Mobile Concert Series tickets start at $59.99, but live shows on the Coca-Cola stage are free with your admission to the Stampede grounds.

Fair and attractions:

The Stampede’s Midway Unleashed area features some of the best and most varied entertainment around. Thrill seekers can ride the Slingshot and the Skyscraper, or try your hand at some carnival games, rock climbing, paintball, and even axe throwing. You can also shop for one-of-a-kind Western gifts like hats, belt buckles, and cowboy boots, catch the parade, and when you get hungry, explore the Stampede grounds for tasty and unique options including carnival-fare classics (popcorn and cotton candy), deep-fried everything (from pickles to oreos), and finger-licking barbecue.

The Calgary Stampede is an unforgettable event that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime! Book your stay soon – accommodations fill up fast for Stampede dates every summer. Days Inn Calgary Airport is just a 15 minute drive away from the Stampede Grounds – conveniently close if you need to take a nap break in the middle of the day.
