?Sled Island music and arts festival returns June 20-24

For 11 years, Sled Island festival has been a summertime staple in Calgary. Each year since 2007, the has drawn over 30,000 attendees across 35 local venues. This year’s 5-day celebration of music and arts will feature over 250 world-class performers, including The Flaming Lips, Thundercat, Wye Oak, and the Dirty Projectors. The festival will also feature a show by last year’s Polaris Music Prize winner, Lido Pimienta.
 
Beyond the music, you can catch film screenings, live comedy shows, and art exhibits. Catch film screenings at various iconic Calgary venues such as the HiFi Club and Globe Cinema. The first cinema event is actually on June 19^th, before the official festival starts, with a presentation of “Videokills – The Explorer Series: Invisible City Symphonies”. Videokills is a Berlin-based artist community whose work “combines international short films with original scores performed live by local musicians.”
 
More special events and activities include music lessons, yoga, trivia contests, and even “punk rock bingo”.  Art exhibits are sponsored by the Alberta College of Art + Design, featuring works and series by talented Canadian artists.
 
Purchase a Sled Island pass to experience everything the festival has to offer! This pass grants you access to all venues and shows, with the majority of capacities at the respective venues allocated to passholders. Passes are available under adult (18+) or all-ages (under 18) categories. Adult passes (Discovery Passes) start at $214 and all-ages passes are just $40. Be sure to get your tickets in advance as rates will increase once the festival starts!
 
Single-performance passes are also available for select shows, starting at just $10, and a limited number of tickets will be available for select shows at the door.
