Fall has arrived and that means all kinds of Halloween-themed events are returning to Calgary once again. But there’s one event in particular that we couldn’t be more excited about, and it’s Halloweekends at Calaway Park.

Each fall, Calgary’s resident amusement park, Calaway Park, turns into a spooky Halloween village for all ages.

This year, Halloweekends kicks off September 11th and is taking place every Saturday and Sunday until October 11th.

That’s right, for a full month, this Calgary amusement park will be transformed into Hallotown, filled with Halloween-themed scenes, characters, and activities.

This year’s event promises to be the best yet. Visitors can expect to stroll through Hallotown and discover spooky scenes, meet some of the most magical Hallotown characters at the Enchanted Forest Experience, and new in 2021, watch and even participate in the Halloweekends Parade.

Starting on September 18th at 4:00 pm, the Halloweekends Parade will take place each day and weave its way through Calaway Park’s inner pathway. All kinds of special characters and spooky parade floats will be on display. Kids who wear a costume to the park are even invited to join in! But if you’d prefer to watch, you can also do so, with the best viewpoints being Dodgem and the Celebration Square Stage.

Young ones are encouraged to dress up in their favourite Halloween costume, as the park is hosting a Halloweekends Photo Contest, where the winner will be given four one-day tickets to Calaway Park for use in 2022.

Another reason to rock a costume? The Boo Crew Costume Party. On one special Halloweekends weekend (September 18th and 19th), the park is hosting a costume party where visitors have the opportunity to get dressed up and enjoy a wide range of family-friendly activities like a Mad Scientist Lab, Morton Hallograve: Magic & Juggling, Scarecrow Stilt Walker, and the Boo Crew Dance Party.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a visit to Calaway Park without going on a few rides. All park rides will be fully operational throughout Halloweekends.

If you’re going to be in Calgary this fall, we highly recommend spending a day at Calaway Park. And if you need a place to stay during your visit, you’re always welcome at the Days Inn by Wyndham Calgary Airport.
