We don’t know about you, but one of our favourite ways to celebrate the holiday season is by attending a Christmas-themed show. Thankfully, there is no shortage of holiday plays and concerts in Calgary this year. From a retelling of the Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol, to a special performance by The Funk Hunters, keep reading to discover the best holiday shows taking over Calgary this month.

A Christmas Carol

For 2021, Theatre Calgary presents A Christmas Carol, based on the iconic novel by Charles Dickens. As you might expect, the show tells the story of a miserable man who gets a second chance at life owing to the Ghosts of Christmas. This year, the play is directed by Stafford Arima and will be performed live until December 24th. Don’t want to see it live? They are also releasing a filmed version online that people can buy access to from December 2nd until the 31st.

Funk the Halls: The Funk Hunters at The Palace Theatre

We are thrilled to announce that The Funk Hunters are returning to The Palace Theatre in Calgary this month! Funk the Halls: The Funk Hunters at The Palace Theatre is taking place one night only on Saturday, December 18th, starting at 9:00 pm (prepare for it to be a late night as the event is scheduled to end at 2:00 am the next day). Tickets are $30.51.

Beauty & the Grinch

Grab your kids and book a ticket to Beauty & the Grinch ASAP! Hosted by the Jubilations Dinner Theatre in Calgary, Beauty & the Grinch is just what you and your family need this holiday season. On now until January 8, 2022, this event features a live show and delicious food. More specifically, Beauty & the Grinch is a two-act musical comedy centred on the fictional town of Glooville. During the show, guests will indulge in a three-course lunch and refillable tea and coffee. Tickets start at $36.95 per person.
