Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Calgary Stampede was cancelled for the first time in over 100 years last year. But this year, with cases down and vaccinations up, this epic event is back!

Taking place between July 9th and 18th, the Calgary Stampede is officially welcoming visitors back to the greatest outdoor show on earth.

While this year’s stampede will look a little different, organizers are thrilled to announce that the event will be in-person. Certain events are TBD as they are partially dependent on the regulations set by Alberta Health at the time, however, there are a few things that everyone can look forward to.

For example, the Grandstand Show is going forward, and while it will no longer feature Paul Brandt or Chuckwagon races (both of which have been cancelled this year), they have replaced it with something even better: an all-new Evening Show experience.

According to the Calgary Stampede’s website, this new Evening Show will feature high-energy western events, competitive rodeo, one of the largest fireworks displays in Canada, and live music courtesy of rock band The Young Canadians.

Other key events at the Calgary Stampede 2021 include the Calgary Stampede Rodeo (the main event), the Dog Bowl, Elbow River Camp, and the Midway (where kids and adults alike can enjoy rides, carnival games, and food).

Tickets for the Calgary Stampede, including tickets for specific events and days, are on sale now on the event’s official website. The Stampede Box Office is currently closed to customers and seats are limited to ensure physical distance, so be sure to purchase your tickets online well in advance of July 8th.

In addition to physical distancing, other COVID-19 protocols in place are mandatory masks in all indoor Stampede venues, hand sanitizing stations in all buildings, and extensive cleaning and sanitizing of high touch surfaces by the staff.

If you plan on visiting Calgary this July, then be sure to attend this massive global event. And if you need a place to stay during your visit, we’d love to host you at the Days Inn by Wyndham Calgary Airport. We combine comfortable accommodation, top-notch amenities, and a convenient location right near the airport.
